CHILDREN AT HEART
DAY CARE AND PRE-SCHOOL
I am amazed that God uses ordinary people to accomplish extra ordinary things. Working with the children in the local school system for almost thirty years has been a pleasure. When I had the opportunity to travel to Malawi, Africa on a mission’s trip with the Church; we ministered to the children. Their hearts were so attentive to every word that I said, even with an interpreter!
There is a school in the village for older children who can walk the distance, but nothing for the children who are from four to eight years of age. These kindergarteners, first graders, and second graders are missing that crucial foundation of having a book read to them, or of even the simple pleasure of learning how to use a pencil.
Thanks to your donations, these children will attend school in an appropriate age classroom, with a first-class curriculum we hope will lead these children to future academic success.
Early childhood is the most valuable time of development in a child’s life. Preschool is a time for kids to fall in love with learning. Children at Heart, works to promote that growth mentally, physically, and spiritually!

About Malawi
Malawi is a country located in southeastern Africa, bordered by Tanzania, Mozambique, and Zambia. Known as “The Warm Heart of Africa” for its friendly people and rich culture. Malawi is home to approximately twenty million people as of 2025.
The official language of Malawi is English, used primarily in government, education, and business. However, Chichewa is the most widely spoken local language and serves as the national language, used in everyday communication and media.
Mazembe (location for Children at Heart), is a rural village located in the scenic Nkhata Bay District of northern Malawi. Nestled near the shores of Lake Malawi and surrounded by the lush greenery of the Viphya Mountains, Mazembe forms part of a region known for its natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and keen sense of community. The Tonga people primarily inhabit the village, and the local economy is supported by small-scale farming and fishing. Like many villages in the district, Mazembe reflects the broader social and cultural fabric of Nkhata Bay-where tradition, language, and a close connection to the land continue to shape everyday life.
Children in Mazembe, located in Nkhata Bay District of northern Malawi, primarily receive their education through local public primary schools. These schools are part of the national education system, which offers free primary education aimed at improving literacy and numeracy among young learners. However, the educational environment in Mazembe faces several challenges.
Community
Village connection with CAH and the community will change the direction of the village one child at a time. “The Warm Heart of Africa”, is seen through its friendly people and rich culture of community values. Through community outreaches, and events CAH will sponsor social gatherings that will bring the families and the children together to strengthen family values. “It takes a Village to raise a child,” as CAH will be an important part in supporting the development of the children. The support and love of the community will lead to having a positive impact on the children.
The village support system provides benefits for CAH and the healthy structure of the community. CAH strives to create a safe environment where children can achieve and grow into productive adults who will give back and help to sustain their thriving community structure
